A
comment often made about the Station Road Steam Feldbahn or Stafford
engines is that the globe valves controlling the steam to the
injectors, blower, and vacuum brakes look quite large and out of scale.
The reason for using them is that they work well and are easily
available, as well as being sensibly priced. These are all
good reasons for using them but there is an alternative.
When
I owned my Stafford I refitted it with the smaller globe valves made by
R A Barker as shown in this photo, and in June 2016 I fitted identical
valves to my Feldbahn. You can read all about this modification
